Mazda Vehicles That Deserve Recognition for Their Safety
Every year, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has a say in determining which vehicles feature safety attributes that are worthy of receiving a Top Safety Pick and Top Safety Pick+ accolade. Most vehicles are tested on their headlights, overlap crash testing, and front crash prevention efforts. Many new Mazda vehicles earned these designations this year, which is a tribute to the work and effort Mazda puts into the development of their new vehicle offerings. Mazda 3 Sedan
Earning a Top Safety Pick+ award, this sedan performed as Good in all areas. An Acceptable/Good rating was given for headlight testing, but this measurement varies among trim levels.
Mazda3 Hatchback
With a slightly different stature than the Mazda3 sedan, the hatchback version of this model performed similarly. It received Good rankings overall with an acceptable status in the headlight evaluation. Yet, its child anchor LATCH system received a Good+ rating.
Mazda6
As the only midsized car evaluated by the IIHS this year, the Mazda6 performed well and earned a Top Safety Pick+ rating. Withstanding collision testing well, the only area this sedan performed as Acceptable was its lack of prevention of driver leg and foot injuries during impact.
Mazda CX-30
This four-door SUV was also named a Top Safety Pick+. It performed Good in most areas, except for headlight variations throughout its trim levels, in which a Poor rating was received for some models.
Mazda CX-3
As a small SUV, the Mazda CX-3 received Good ratings in most of its tested areas, leading to a Top Safety Pick+ designation. However, its headlights are merely Acceptable across all models, as well as its Acceptable LATCH child seat anchor system.
